Hire Odoo Developers in Saudi Arabia: Modules, ZATCA Setup and Upgrades

Bring in an Odoo developer for the work your team has no time for. We work remotely in Arabic and English and quote in US dollars.

اقرأ هذه الصفحة بالعربية

You can bring in a single Odoo developer or a small team, and work usually starts with a call about your Odoo version and the job. Everything is remote, in Arabic and English, hourly from $10 to $100 by developer level or fixed price from $500 to $100,000 by complexity, in US dollars.

Devvista is an official Odoo partner and a software development company. Tell us your case and we will say honestly whether we are a fit. The global overview is on our hire Odoo developers page (English).

01

What an Odoo developer actually does

Odoo is a business suite built from apps (Sales, Inventory, Purchase, Accounting and others). An Odoo developer changes or extends those apps, connects Odoo to other systems, and keeps the database upgradable. Odoo's own developer documentation is organised as Tutorials, How-to guides and Reference, and its reference lists the ORM API, module manifests, security, testing, QWeb reports, web controllers and Owl components for the interface. Source: Odoo developer documentation. The table maps that to jobs you can hire for.

JobWhat it involvesWhy it needs an Odoo specialist
Custom modulesNew models, views, access rules and reports for a process standard Odoo does not coverCode must extend Odoo through its module system and ORM, with security rules and tests, so that it survives upgrades
Reports and documentsInvoice, quotation and delivery layouts, including Arabic and bilingual layoutsQWeb Reports are their own part of the framework
IntegrationsConnect Odoo to a store, carrier, payment gateway, CRM or an older systemOdoo documents an External JSON-2 API that uses API keys and access rights. The older XML-RPC and JSON-RPC endpoints are deprecated and, per the page, scheduled for removal in Odoo 22 (fall 2028) and Odoo Online 21.1 (winter 2027), so we build new links on JSON-2. Data migrationMove customers, products, stock and balances from Excel or an old systemNeeds knowledge of how records relate, or stock and ledgers will not reconcile

If you are not sure you need code at all, say so on the first call. Many requirements are settings or standard apps, and we would rather tell you than bill you for a module.

Saudi work: ZATCA setup and Arabic documents

Odoo's documentation for version 19 lists six modules for Saudi Arabia, all prefixed l10n_sa: accounting with the phase-one QR code, reports, phase-two e-invoicing, two point-of-sale modules and withholding tax. The same page sets a standard VAT rate of 15%, requires SAR as the company currency, limits the company name to 63 characters, and requires tax invoices, simplified tax invoices and their notes in Arabic, with English optional. Source: the localisation documentation.

The same page sets out the onboarding rules your developer must respect: each sales journal is onboarded separately; the one-time password from the Fatoora portal expires after 60 minutes; invoices created in simulation mode are not legally valid; ZATCA-rejected invoices stay in a Rejected state until fixed and retried; and each credit or debit note needs a ZATCA-approved reason.

ZATCA's Wave 25 notice of 24 July 2026 sets 1 February 2027 as the latest integration date for taxpayers whose VAT-subject revenue exceeded SAR 187,500 in 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025 (ZATCA notice). Your own notice decides your date. See Odoo ZATCA e-invoicing and the Wave 25 checker.

One question to settle first, and we will not guess it for you: which Odoo edition and hosting you run. The documentation we opened ties upgrade rules to the hosting type (Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise), and we have not verified in these pages which edition carries which Saudi module. We check this at the start of every Saudi engagement.

03

Upgrades: why the version you run matters

Odoo's upgrade documentation says each major version is supported for three years, that whether an upgrade is mandatory depends on the hosting type, and that after the support period there are two more years to finish the upgrade. It also says that staying on a supported version is strongly recommended. Source: Odoo upgrade documentation.

Custom code is where upgrades get expensive. Every custom module has to be checked against the new version, so a developer who writes modules the way Odoo expects keeps that cost down. When we take over a database we first read the custom modules and tell you what an upgrade would involve, before quoting it.

Three ways to hire an Odoo developer through Devvista

ModelBest whenHow it is priced
Dedicated developer by the hourA running Odoo system with a backlog: fixes, reports, small features, integrationsHourly, $10 to $100 by developer type and level
Small teamAn implementation or migration needing functional setup, development and testing togetherHourly, per person
Fixed-price module or integrationOne piece of work with a written specificationFixed, $500 to $100,000 by complexity

An estimate, not a quote: 100 hours of a developer at an illustrative $40 an hour is $4,000. Prices are in US dollars, agreed in writing before work starts. If you want a company to run the whole rollout, not a developer inside your team, see Odoo implementation in Saudi Arabia. The global overview is on our hire Odoo developers page (English).

05

Questions to ask any Odoo developer, including ours

  • How do you extend a standard model or view without editing core files?
  • How do you write access rules, and how do you test a module?
  • How would you port this custom module to the next Odoo version, and what breaks first?
  • How do you onboard a sales journal for ZATCA, and what do you do when an invoice is rejected?
  • Which hosting type are we on, and what does that mean for upgrades?
  • Who owns the repository and the staging database at handover?

Ask for a small paid trial: one change to a copy of your database, delivered with a short note on what it touches. It shows more than any CV.

How a remote Odoo developer works with a Saudi team

Calls, written specs and a shared board replace site visits. We agree overlapping hours with your working week, work on a staging copy of your database, show progress in regular demos and keep the code in your repository. We work in Arabic and English, and we hand over code, documentation and access. We do not claim a Saudi team or Saudi Odoo clients, and Odoo projects are under NDA, so a trial task is how we show our work.

Yes. We provide dedicated Odoo developers and small teams who work remotely in Arabic and English, hourly from $10 to $100 or as a fixed-price piece of work from $500 to $100,000.

They build and change modules through Odoo's own framework (ORM, views, security rules, reports), which is what keeps custom code upgradable. A general developer needs time to learn that, and the code written meanwhile can be costly to replace.

Yes, using the Saudi localisation modules the documentation lists. Each sales journal is onboarded separately, and we rehearse on a copy before anything is live. Your own ZATCA notice decides your date.

Yes. We clean and load customers, products, stock and balances, and show you a list of what was fixed before go-live.

We read the custom modules first and tell you what an upgrade would involve before we quote it. Odoo's documentation says each major version is supported for three years.

Often yes. We start by reading the code and the database on a copy, and we say honestly if parts should be rebuilt rather than patched.

We have not verified this in the documentation pages we opened, so we do not state it. We check your edition and hosting at the start of the engagement.

From $10 to $100 per hour depending on developer type and level, or a fixed price from $500 to $100,000 depending on complexity, in US dollars. An illustrative 100 hours at $40 is $4,000, an estimate and not a quote.

No. Odoo projects are under NDA, so we cannot show them, and we do not claim Saudi clients. We offer a small paid trial task and a walkthrough of how we work.

You do. The repository and hosting accounts are in your company name, and your team can run a release without us.
